Rodeo, held the last week of every

Enjoy recreational activities on the Historic
Foothills Trail. The foothills
trail is a 12- foot wide non-motorized asphalt trail for bicycles,
walking, in-line skating and wheelchairs. It also has a soft
shoulder path for horses. The Foothills Trail begins in Downtown
Buckley next to the National Guard Armory on River Avenue and continues
down River Avenue toward Wilkeson. |

| The Buckley branch of the
Pierce County Library System is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 11 AM - 8
PM, Thursdays and Fridays from 11 AM - 5:30 PM, and Saturdays from 11 AM
- 5 PM. Branch services include computer use and internet access,
family story times, children's and adult programs, access to over 1
million library materials available for reservation, and public meeting
room use. Borrowers must possess a Pierce County Library card in
order to reserve and borrow materials. |
A State residential facility
that was established in 1939 to care for persons with developmental
disabilities. Currently 1000 employees care for and provide
support for 400 residents. Community wide events open to the
public include a spring bazaar in May, Summerfest on the third Friday in
August, and a winter bazaar in early December. |

The Wilkeson Hand Car Races
take place annually the third week in July. A parade, children's
fair and street dance round out the activities. Sponsored by the
Wilkeson Booster Club, the races take place at the track by Coke Oven
Park. Funds raised from the races support community improvement
projects. |

| Listed in the National Historic
Registry, Wilkeson Town Hall is open Monday through Thursday, 9 AM - 4
PM. The Northern Pacific Railway Caboose is located at and operated
during town hall hours. Roosevelt Park is located at Briar Hill
and Roosevelt Streets. The Russian Orthodox Church on Highway 165
is a national historic site at which information can be obtained by
tuning in to the designated radio frequency. |
The Wilkeson Wilderness
Information Center is a combination ranger station, visitor's and
information for Mt. Rainier National Park. Located on Church
Street in Wilkeson, visitors can obtain backpacking, climbing and
camping permits; get current information about camping and day use
areas; arrange to leave food caches at the Center for long backpacking
trips; and purchase books, maps and information about Mt. Rainier. |

The Fair draws over 60,000 people and showcases entertainment, food,
thousands of competitive exhibits, a variety of commercial vendors and a
large carnival. The facility is rented for events during other
months. A new RV campground opened in the fall of 2004 with 28
paved and landscaped spaces with water and electric hookups available
year round. |

Enumclaw, WA 98022Mud Mountain Dam is a US Army Corps of Engineers
flood control dam and recreation facility. Visitors to the
facility can view the dam from the Vista Point, and hike, bike or ride
their horses in a scenic woodland setting. There is no public
access to the river. In the recreation area there are 2 large
reservable shelters, 20 covered picnic areas, playsets, open fields and
a wading pool. This facility is free to the public. Hours of
operation vary. |

(360) 825-4646Nolte State Park is a 117 -acre day-use park with 7,174
feet of freshwater shoreline on Deep Lake in the Green River Gorge.
The park offers many activities such as hiking and bike trails;
freshwater, non-motorized boating; fresh water fishing; unsupervised
swimming and picnic facilities. The park also provides two kitchen
shelters without electricity, plus one sheltered and 50 unsheltered
picnic tables. There is a $5.00 parking fee per
vehicle. |
